WAYS TO BUILD SELF-ESTEEM

 What is self-esteem?

Self esteem is a  reflection of an individual’s overall subjective emotional state, evaluation of his/her own worth. Self esteem encompasses beliefs about one’s self, as well as emotional state, such as despair,pride, and shame.

What is low self-esteem?

People with low self-esteem often experience or feel;-

  • Feeling of worthlessness and not being good enough
  • Like no one likes you
  • Blame self for things that are not your fault
  • undeserving of love, affection and happiness
  • Low confidence

IT’S NOT WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE THAT’S HOLDING YOU BACK, IT’S WHAT YOU THINK YOU ARE NOT.

What are the ways to build self-esteem?

  1. DISCOVER WHAT IS AFFECTING YOUR LOW SELF ESTEEM.

Self esteem can be affected by many things and in many ways.

  • Being bullied or abused
  • Losing a job
  • Separation or divorce.

Like the saying, YOU HAVE TO DISCOVER TO RECOVER.   Find out what is affecting your self-esteem and deal with it, perhaps you need a closure?

2.AVOID NEGATIVE TALKS AND PEOPLE.

Cutting out negative talk, situation and people will do wonders for your self-esteem.

3.STOP NEGATIVE COMPARISON.

Do not compare yourself to anyone else, always remember that there is more going on in  picture than what first meets the eye. So stop the pity party and focus on what makes you who you are. DO YOU,DO YOU WITH PRIDE.

YOU ARE YOU, PERFECT AS YOU ARE, LET THAT BE ENOUGH. 

4. FOCUS ON YOUR POSITIVES.

This goes without saying, focus on that part of you people always compliment, focus on what makes you unique, what you love about yourself.

5.GET SUPPORT IF YOU FEEL OVERWHELMED.

Talk to someone if you feel overwhelmed, we all do sometimes, it’s okay to be unsure but it’s not okay to keep to yourself if you are feeling overwhelmed, it can lead to a break down. Talk to a friend, talk to your mom, talk to a professional or even join a group.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

 

6. BE NICE TO YOURSELF.

Be nice to yourself, we all heal at different paces, don’t be hard on yourself. At the end of the day all you truly have is you.

7.SET A CHALLENGE FOR YOUR SELF AND FOCUS ON THE SMALL WINS.

Set small challenges for your self:-

  • Join a class
  • Join the gym
  • Paint

And also remember to celebrate your every win.

8.LOVE YOUR SELF UNCONDITIONALLY.

Self love is not selfish, you cannot truly love another until you learn how to love your self.
